Welcome to the website of the Whitsunday Triathlon Club.
Formed in 1999 by a very small group of enthusiastic amateurs with very little triathlon experience between them, the club has since blossomed into a significant local sporting organization with a high community profile.
Every year since its inception the club has hosted the Airlie Beach Sprint Distance Triathlon which from small beginnings is now established as one of North Queensland’s premier races attracting elite and age group athletes from across the country.
Having introduced many members to their first ever triathlon the club has now produced Olympic distance and long course triathletes who have competed up to half and full Ironman distances.
The Whitsunday club has a reputation as one of the friendliest around and unlike many tri clubs boasts a high percentage of women members. Many people join club training sessions on a casual basis when they are visiting the area and can always be assured of a warm welcome.
Our members are keen as mustard, training sessions of some description are usually happening most days of the week and a typical program can be found on our training page.
Whether you are a seasoned triathlete moving into town or visiting on holiday or someone who has never tried the sport but would like to give it a go, pick up the phone and give us a call, you can rest assured we will go out of way to make you welcome. Be warned however, triathlon is addictive and being a triathlete in the beautiful Whitsunday’s is totally irresistible.
